PI day

    Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. Pi Day is an annual opportunity for math enthusiasts to recite the infinite digits of Pi and talk to their friends about math.

    We are going to celebrate Pi Day by designing buildings and creating a skyline. Each number will be a different building.

Material:
   - Colour cardboard DIN A4
   - Newspaper, magazines, and other paper for the collage
   - Scissors
   - Glue

Building measures
    - Width: 7 cm  
   - Heighth: Each student will be given one of the Pi numbers. This number will be multiplied by 3 cm and the result number will be the height.

     Each student will decorate their building as their wish. It could be a house, a garage, a shop, a skyscraper, etc.

Abstract Art after Regular Geometric Shapes

This exercise is really easy to do and the results are amazing!!!!!
What do you have to do?
  1. Draw a regular geometric shape on a coloured cardboard, DIN A4.
  2. Draw the lines where you will be cutting the smaller shapes out.
  3. Cut out the pieces, if there are too many, write a number on them.
  4. Glue the pieces on another colored cardboard, but remember to leave a space in between them. Make sure all the pieces are on place!!!

Are we surrounded by geometric shapes?

   The idea of this work is to make students think on objects, symbols, etc. based on the three basic shapes: triangles, squares and  circles.
  • You are given a grid with the three basic forms: a circle, a trinagle and a square.
  • You will have to draw 4 different objects that contain these shapes.
  • At the end, colour nicely your work.

Line. Geometric Layouts.

GEOMETRY

Questions:
•    What is geometry? is a branch of mathematics concerned with questions of shape, size, relative position of figures, and the properties of space.
•    Is geometry Art or Math? Both
•    What do we use geometry for? To draw and create shapes, objects, etc.

Tools:
Ruler, set of squares, compass and technical pens.

Geometric Layouts____________________________________________
  • Parallel lines: Two lines in a plane that do not intersect or touch at a point are called parallel lines. Line m has everywhere the same distance to line.
  • Perpendicular lines: The segment AB is perpendicular to the segment CD because the two angles it creates (indicated in orange and blue) are each 90 degrees. If a line is perpendicular to another as shown, all of the angles created by their intersection are called right angles.
  • Angle bisector: An angle bisector divides the angle into two angles with equal measures. An angle only has one bisector. Each point of an angle bisector is equidistant from the sides of the angle.
  • Bisection: is the division of something into two equal parts by a line, which is then called a bisector.
